Whitefield: Found in Lincoln County, Whitefield is a rural town with a strong agricultural heritage. It’s known for its farmlands, forests, and peaceful countryside.

Whitefield was once part of the Second Kennebec Patent (also known as the Kennebec Purchase, or Plymouth Patent) of 1629 granted by the British Crown. Ballstown Plantation was incorporated as Whitefield in 1809; Hunt's Meadow was annexed sometime after 1800; Whitefield land was set off to Gerry (now Windsor) in 1821, but returned in 1907; and land was set off to Alna in 1824, but returned in 1907. familysearch.org

Coopers Mills is an unincorporated village in the town of Whitefield, Lincoln County, Maine.

Whitefield is situated in the central part of the state and is known for its rural character, scenic landscapes, and historical significance.Geography and Location: Whitefield covers an area of about 38 square miles (98.5 square kilometers). It is bordered by the towns of Chelsea, Windsor, Alna, Jefferson, and Pittston. The Sheepscot River runs through the town, contributing to its picturesque surroundings.

Whitefield was incorporated in 1809 and was named after George Whitefield, a prominent English preacher and evangelist of the 18th century. The town has a rich history dating back to colonial times, with historic buildings and sites that reflect its past.

Whitefield, Maine
Lincoln county. Sheepscot river passes through this town, giving it fertility, beauty, and a good water power. It lies 16 miles S.E. from Augusta and 14 N. from Wiscasset. Incorporated, 1809. Population, in 1837, 2,136. Wheat crop, same year, 3,637 bushels.
