Searsmont: Found in Waldo County, Searsmont is a quaint rural town known for its rolling hills and forests. It’s home to several small farms and artists’ studios, offering a glimpse into Maine’s creative and agricultural traditions.

[SEERZ-mont] was settled in 1804 and incorporated on February 5, 1814 from Searsmont Plantation. David Sears of Boston, after whom the town is named, was one of ten who bought land in the area held by the heirs of General Samuel Waldo. maineanencyclopedia.com

Searsmont, Maine
Waldo county. Searsmont has a good soil, and some beautiful ponds. It is a pleasant and flourishing town, 30 miles E. from Augusta and 12 S.W. from Belfast. Population, 1837, 1,392. Wheat crop, same year, 2,792 bushels.
1906 - Searsmont
Searsmont, a post-village in Searsmont township (town) of Waldo co., Me., on the St. George River, 10 miles SW. of Belfast. It has saw, grist, and stave-mills. Pop. of the town in 1900, 949.
