Orland: Found in Hancock County, Orland is a small coastal town with access to Toddy Pond and the Penobscot River. Known for its scenic beauty, the town offers outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and hiking.
[OR-lnd] was settled in 1764 and incorporated on February 21, 1800 from the township T2 EPR, LS.
The township was granted to David Marsh and associates in 1762 and was known as Alamasook (also Alamoosook), then Eastern River.

Orland, Maine
Hancock county. This town lies on the east side of Penobscot river, opposite to Orphan's Island. It lies 64 miles E. from Augusta and 12 W. from Ellsworth. Orland is finely watered by ponds and streams: it has a good soil, a pleasant village and great navigable facilities. Incorporated, 1800. Population, 1830, 975; 1837, 1,244.
