Greenville: A popular tourist destination, Greenville is located in Piscataquis County, at the southern edge of Moosehead Lake, one of Maine’s largest and most scenic bodies of water. The town is known for its outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, and hiking, as well as its breathtaking natural beauty, which attracts visitors year-round.

First called T9 R10 NWP (or Township 9, Range 10, North of the Waldo Patent), the land was granted about 1812 by the Massachusetts General Court to Thornton Academy in Saco.

On February 6, 1836, Greenville was incorporated from Haskell Plantation, and named for its green forests.

Greenville Junction is an unincorporated village in the town of Greenville.

Greenville, a post-village of Piscataquis co., Me., in Greenville township (town), at the S. end of Moosehead Lake, about 30 miles NW. of Dover. Pop. of the town in 1900, 1117.
