About Blue Hill
Blue Hill: Blue Hill is located in Hancock County and is known for its stunning views of Blue Hill Bay. The town is home to a vibrant arts community, with galleries, theaters, and festivals throughout the year. It is also a great spot for outdoor activities like sailing, hiking, and birdwatching.
Blue Hill was one of six townships granted by the Massachusetts General Court to David Marsh and 351 others for their service in the French and Indian War. Called Plantation Number 5, it was first settled in 1762 by Captain Joseph Wood and John Roundy from Andover, Massachusetts, who built homes on Mill Island at the tidal falls. It would then be called Newport Plantation. On January 30, 1789, the town was incorporated as Blue Hill, named after its commanding summit overlooking the region.

1839 - Blue Hill and Bay
Blue Hill and Bay, Maine
Hancock county. The town lies at the head of a large bay, of the same name, 12 miles E. from Castine and 78 E. from Augusta. There are several large ponds in Blue Hill, and a hill of 960 feet in height, from which delightful marine scenery is presented. Incorporated 1789. Population, 1837, 1,808. The bay has Long and other islands inside; and outside, Burntcoat, and a group of smaller islands. Blue Hill bay is connectied with Penobscot bay and river by a passage between the islands and main land, of about 12 miles. It lies about 16 miles W. from Frenchman's bay.

1906 - Bluehill
Bluehill, a post-village and summer-resort of Hancock co., Me., is in Bluehill township (town), on an inlet of the sea called Bluehill Bay, about 34 miles SSE. of Bangor. Fluor-spar, apatite, and other minerals are found here, and there are valuable granite-quarries. Pop. of the town in 1900, 1828.
