Aurora is a town in Hancock County, Maine. The first settlement of Aurora, Maine, was founded by Captain Joseph Young in the late 18th century, around 1790. The primary business in town at that time was agriculture, with farming being a major occupation for the settlers. The town was later incorporated in 1831. Hancock county. This town lies 106 miles from Augusta. With a population of only 140 this town produced, in 1837, among its agricultural products, 855 bushels of wheat.
