Grafton county. Originally part of New Chester; now Hill, was incorporated, 1788. It is bounded N. by Plymouth and Hebron, on the E. by Pemigewasset river, dividing it from part of Holderness and New Hampton, on the S. by Bristol, and on the W. by Newfound pond, which separates it from Alexandria. The soil is well adapted to grazing, and few townships in this vicinity exceed it in this respect. The Mayhew turnpike passes through the W. part, near Newfound pond, and the main road from Concord to Plymouth through the E. part near Pemigewasset river. The first settlement was made in 1766 by Thomas Crawford, Esq., when the tract comprised the whole of New Chester, Bridgewater, and Bristol. Population, in 1830, 783.

Bridgewater, a post-township of Grafton co., N.H., about 7 miles S. of Plymouth, is bounded on the E. by the Pemigewasset River. Pop. 453. Bridgewater Station, at the N. Extremity of the township, is on the Boston, Concord & Montreal Railroad, 3 miles S. E. of Plymouth.

Newfound Lake: This pristine glacial lake is the gem of Bridgewater. Spend your days swimming, sunbathing, or picnicking at Wellington State Park, located on the shores of Newfound Lake. You can also rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard to explore the crystal-clear waters.

Welton Falls: If you're up for a short hike, the Welton Falls Trail offers a scenic route leading to a beautiful waterfall. It's a great spot for a refreshing swim and a picnic in a tranquil forested setting.

Sculptured Rocks Natural Area: Just a short drive away, this geological wonder features unique potholes and rock formations formed by the Cockermouth River over thousands of years. It's an excellent spot for photography and a peaceful walk along the river.
