The modern history of the Sorel region begins in 1672, when a seigneury was granted to Pierre de Saurel.
1842 - Église de Sainte-Victoire established at Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel
It was on April 5, 1842 that the parish of Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel was established following the detachment of the parish of Saint-Pierre-de-Sorel.
The new parish receives the name of Sainte-Victoire in honor of the young queen of Great Britain.
On June 8, 1845, the municipality of Sainte-Victoire was incorporated.
1855 - Two parishes argued about the construction of the church. Sainte-Victoire draws its name from this victory.
