About Brunswick
Brunswick is a town in Essex County, Vermont. The town was named after Prince Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Brunswick-Lunenburg. Brunswick is home to six mineral springs that made the town a popular resort destination in the 19th century. The land the springs are on is now owned by the Abenaki people.

Brunswick, Vermont
Essex county. This town was first settled in 1780. Population, 1830, 160. It lies on the W. side of Connecticut river, and has some excellent mill sites on the waters of Nulhegan river and Wheeler and Paul's streams. There are some beautiful ponds in town, and a mineral spring is said to contain medicinal virtues. It is 55 miles N.E. from Montpelier, 14 N. from Guildhall, and opposite to Stratford, N.H.

It lies on the W. side of Connecticut river, and has some excellent mill sites on the waters of Nulhegan river and Wheeler and Paul's streams. Boundaries. North by Minehead, east by Connecticut River, south by Maidstone, and west by Wenlock.
First Settlers. The first settlement was commenced in the spring of 1780, by Joseph and Nathaniel Wait. John Merrill removed here the succeeding autumn.
Productions of the Soil. Wheat, 253 bushels ; Indian corn, 435 bushels ; potatoes, 8,200 bushels ; hay, 460 tons ; maple sugar, 3,370 pounds; wool, 1,385 pounds.
Distances. Fifteen miles north from Guildhall, and eighty-three north-east from Montpelier.
