Wolcott, Vermont
Lamoille county. Wolcott is well watered by Lamoille river, and by Green and Wild Branch, its branches. "Fish Pond," in Wolcott, is a pretty piece of water, and bears an appropriate name. There is some good grain land in the town, but most of the lands are fit only for pasturage. There are some mills in the town, and about 1,500 sheep.

Wolcott was chartered in 1781. It is 22 miles N. from Montpelier and 7 S.E. from Hyde Park. Population, 1830, 492.

Walcott was chartered to Joshua Stanton and others, in 1781.

Boundaries. North by Craftsbury, east by Hardwick, south by Elmore, and west by Hydepark.

Productions of the Soil. Wheat, 1,733 bushels ; Indian corn, 2,040 bushels ; potatoes, 30,101 bushels; hay, 1,728 tons ; maple sugar, 32,565 pounds ; wool, 4,025 pounds.

Distances. Ten miles south-east from Hydepark, and thirty-seven north from Montpelier.

1909 - Wolcott House Destroyed by Fire
WOLCOTT, Vt., June 18. - A fire to-day destroyed the Wolcott House with the hotel stables and a three-story business building owned by S. A. Fife. The few guests at the hotel had no difficulty in escaping from the building, although some of them lost their personal effects. The loss is estimated at $40,000.
