1839 - Underhill
Underhill, Vermont
Chittenden county. The head branches of Brown's river water this town. The surface is hilly and broken, and the soil is hard; but tolerable for sheep, of which a considerable number are reared.

Underhill was first settled in 1786. It lies 15 miles N.E. from Burlington and 26 N.W. from Montpelier. Population, in 1830, 1,052.
The New England Gazetteer containing descriptions of all the states, counties and towns in New England: also descriptions of the principal mountains, rivers lakes, capes, bays, harbors, islands and fashionable resorts within that territory. 1849 - Underhill
Chittenden Co. The head branches of Brown's River water this town. The surface is hilly and broken, and the soil hard, but tolerable for sheep, of which a considerable number are reared.

The settlement of this town was commenced about the year 1786.

A Congregational Church was organized in 1802, and in 1804 the Rev. James Parker was settled.

Boundaries. Northerly by Cambridge, easterly by Mansfield, southerly bv Jericho, and westerly by Westford.

Productions of the Soil. Wheat, 1,186 bushels; Indian corn, 1,954 bushels; potatoes, 30,375 bushels ; hay, 1,556 tons ; maple sugar, 30,827 pounds ; wool, 8,010 pounds.

Distances. Fifteen miles north-east from Burlington, and twenty-six northwest from Montpelier.
