1824 - Belvidere
BELVIDERE, a township in the eastern part of Franklin county, lying on the western range of the Green Mountains, about 32 miles northeast from Burlington, and about the same distance north from Montpelier. It is bounded north by Avery's Gore and Kellyvale, east by Eden, south by Johnson, and west by Coit's Gore, and contains 30100 acres. It was granted to John Kelly, March 5, 1787, and was chartered by the name of Belvidere, November 4, 1791. A considerable part of this town is mountainoust and unfit for cultivation, and, not withstanding some time has elapsed since the settlement of the town was commenced, the number of families, here, is yet small. The township is watered by two branches of the river Lamoile, on one of which are a swa and grist mill. Population 198.

Lamoille county. Mountainous township on the west side of the Green Mountains, 32 miles N.E. from Burlington, 32 N. from Montpelier, 27 E. by S. from St. Albans, and watered by branches of Lamoille river. Incorporated 1791. Population, 1830, 185.

1849 - Belvidere
Lamoille Co. A considerable part of this township is mountainous, and unfit for cultivation. The settlement was commenced about the year 1800. The township is watered by two branches of the River Lamoille.

Boundaries. North by Avery's Gore and Lowell, east by Eden, south by Johnson, and west by Waterville.

Productions of the Soil. Wheat, 332 bushels ; Indian corn, 294 bushels ; potatoes, 9.310 bushels; hay, 553 tons; maple sugar, 3,440 pounds ; wool, 1,187 pounds.

Distances. Eighteen miles north-west from Hydepark, and forty-five miles north-west from Montpelier.

1905 - Mrs. Ira Whittemore on going to her room Monday forenoon found it full of smoke...
On investigation it was found that the bed and bed clothes were nearly consumed. Mrs. Whittemore things it must have caught from a lighted candle which the little girl used in going to bed.
