Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot is located in Montérégie, in particular, in the regional county municipality of Maskoutains, between Saint-Hyacinthe and Drummondville. The municipality occupies an area of about 72 square kilometers.The current municipality of Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot was born from the merger of the parish municipality of Saint-Hélène, founded in 1855, and the village municipality of Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot, incorporated in 1925. This merger took place in 1977.
Several restaurants and service stations are present in this locality which has become a stopover village. According to the Ministry of Transport of Quebec, more than a thousand trucks a day stop in this small village, thanks in particular to the location of this village which takes full advantage of a highway between Montreal and Quebec which crosses Sainte-Hélène.
The municipality is characterized by the presence of an urban core located in the center of an important agricultural plain. Thus, its economy is largely based on agriculture.
