The parish of Sainte-Flavie, founded in 1829, but legally incorporated in 1855, covers an area of approximately 38 square kilometers and is part of the administrative region of Bas-Saint-Laurent. It is located in the regional county municipality of La Mitis.
The name of Sainte-Flavie comes from the name of the seigneuress Angélique-Flavie Drapeau who gave her land to build the first church of the village.

The inhabitants of what was to become Sainte-Flavie claimed their parish and eventually obtained it in 1829.
The parish of Sainte-Flavie was named in honor of Flavie Drapeau and in memory of Flavie Domitille , a Roman martyr.
In the summer of 1850, the first wooden church was built in Sainte-Flavie.
1884 - A stone church was built in Sainte-Flavie to replace the original wooden church.
1895 - Sainte Flavie
Sainte Flavie, a post-village in Rimouski co., Quebec, on the S. shore of the St. Lawrence, and on the Intercolonial Railway, 87 miles below Rivière du Loup en Bas. Pop. 450.
In 1932, a wharf was built in Sainte-Flavie around which commercial and sport fishing coexisted for some time.
1948 - Sainte-Flavie church destroyed by fire
