The first seigniory was established in these places in 1751, when the authorities of New France granted these lands to Joseph Deguire dit Desrosiers.
He named the seigniory Deguire. Later, it was bought by the famous Pierre Du Calvet and after his conviction for revolutionary activities, the authorities seized it and awarded it to Jonathan Eckhart who sold it to Nicolas Montour. Successive sales and purchases took place until 1855, the year of the constitution of the municipality of Saint-David.
