Nobleboro: Located in Lincoln County, Nobleboro is a quiet, picturesque town near Damariscotta Lake. Known for its natural beauty, the town is popular for activities like kayaking, birdwatching, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Settled in 1640, the town was probably named for a later settler, James Noble, Esq. His brother, Col. Arthur Noble, led an expedition to drive the French from Nova Scotia. A monument in the town remembers this Noble as well.

Before incorporation on November 20, 1788, the area was known as Walpole. It annexed land from Bristol in 1815 and set off land to form Damariscotta on July 26, 1847... maineanencyclopedia.com

1839 - Nobleborough
Nobleborough, Maine
Lincoln county. This town lies on the east side of the upper waters of Damariscotta river. It is a place of considerable trade. Many ships are built here, and a large number of vessels are employed in the coasting trade. The soil of the town is generally good, and considerable attention is paid by the inhabitants to agricultural pursuits. It lies 38 miles S.E. from Augusta and 11 E. from Wiscasset. Population, 1837, 1,999. Incor., 1788.

1886 - Nobleborough
Nobleborough is situated near the centre of Lincoln County on the eastern shore of Damariscotta Lake. Waldoboro' bounds it on the east, Jefferson on the north and west, Newcastle on the west of the southern part, and Damariscotta on the south. The area is about ten thousand acres. Damariscotta Lake extends along the whole western side of the town, and a broad area of the lake, called Muscingus Bay, penetrates to the centre. From the head of this bay a canal, excavted many years ago, extends southward for nearly 2 miles. A section of Pemaquid Pond extends from the south-east corner nearly 2 miles toward the centre of town. On the eastern line is Duck Puddle Pond, and in the north-eastern corner is Cook's Pond.

The soil of the town is favorable to agriculture, in which pussuit the inhabitants are chiefly engaged. The centres of business are Nobleborough and Damariscotta Mills. There is a station of the Knox and Lincoln railroad in each place. The distance from Bath is about 22 miles. ... Read MORE...

Noblesborough, no'bl'z-bür-rüh, a post-hamlet of Lincoln co., Me., in Noblesborough township, near Nobles. borough Station on the Knox & Lincoln Railroad, which is 12 miles E.N.E. of Wiscasset. It has 2 churches. The township is bounded on the W. by the Damariscotta River, and contains several saw-mills and a village named Damariscotta Mills. Pop. of the township, 1150.
