About Saint-Faustin
The development of the railway between Montréal and Mont-Laurier began with the foundation of the Montreal Northern Colonization Railway Company in 1869. The inhabitants of Saint-Faustin and Lac-Carré had not been long in the sector, which was then known as La Repousse in the Canton of Wolfe. In 1887, their financial assistance was solicited in order to accelerate the arrival of the railroad and thus ensure the region’s development. In November 1892, the train finally arrived in this isolated community, which was struggling to support itself agriculturally. The railway station, known as Saint-Faustin-Station, was built one year later not far from Lac Carré. It is located on land formerly belonging to Anthime Tessier, one of the pioneers of the area. The station was enlarged in 1911 by the addition of an annex. There have been very few modifications made to the building since then. Rail service was interrupted in 1960, began again in 1978 and was completely abandoned in 1981... laurentides.com
