10 km east of Saint-Hyacinthe, in the MRC des Maskoutains, between Saint-Siméon to the north, is Saint-Dominique, to the south, in Montérégie, is the former municipality of the parish of Sainte-Rosalie, today sector of Saint-Hyacinthe. Sainte-Rosalie is located a short distance east of the Yamaska River.

It takes its name from Saint Rosalie, Palermitan virgin, of Greek origin, who would have lived in a cave of Mount Pellegrino (Pellegrin) , located northwest of Palermo in Sicily.
