About Sainte-Julienne
The municipality of Sainte-Julienne covers an area of 102 square kilometers in the administrative region of Lanaudière. It is part of the regional county municipality of Montcalm.
Sainte-Julienne is located exactly on the border between the St. Lawrence lowlands and the Laurentian plateau, north of Saint-Esprit and south of Rawdon, 50 kilometers from Montreal. The Saint-Esprit River flows at the western end of the territory.
In the 19th century, several craft businesses were born there, such as forges and shoe repair shops, as well as sawmills and agricultural businesses.

The first settlers cleared land there in the 1840s. They were mostly French Canadians, but among them there were also Irish.
The parish of Sainte-Julienne-de-Rawdon was canonically founded in 1848 by Joseph-Édouard Beaupré.
1849 - Église de Sainte-Julienne established at Sainte-Julienne
In 1855, the municipality of the same name was constituted civilly by its detachment from the municipality of Rawdon, and Mr. Beaupré was its mayor until 1880 (the name was reduced to Sainte-Julienne in 1967).
Sainte-Julienne is home to a heritage jewel of Lanaudière: the registry office building, erected in 1859.

1915 - Fire in Sainte-Julienne
In 1994, a prehistoric walrus skull was discovered on the territory of Sainte-Julienne. The technique of dating by carbon 14 makes it possible to establish that its age is 10 thousand years.
