The municipality of Saint-Barnabé-Sud is located in the north-central part of the regional county municipality of Maskoutains and is part of the administrative region of Montérégie.
Civilly constituted on July 1, 1855 (although the canonical erection of the parish dates back to the early 1840s), this municipality covers an area of more than 58 square kilometers. the vast majority of residents are French speakers.
A rural and agricultural community, Saint-Barnabé-Sud borders the Yamaska River to the southeast and is bounded by the municipalities of Saint-Hugues, Saint-Jude, La Présentation and the town of Saint-Hyacinthe.
