White Lake is a village in Langlade County, Wisconsin, United States.

White Lake is located about four miles west of the scenic Wolf River and the historic old "Military Road" which is now Highway 55. It is in the Town of Wolf River which is located in the eastern part of Langlade County. The name "White" was given to the lake by the Indians who hunted and fished in this area many years ago. It was named because of the white sand and marl in lake bottom. The Langlade County History tells us that in 1876, Isaac Farrow, a pioneer of this era, attempted to drain White Lake and make a hay meadow out of the level bottom. He failed in his venture because he didn't realize the depth of the lake and that it was fed by springs...

(White Lake) - In 1889 Marcus Wahleitner, Sr., came from Elton, Wisconsin to settle upon a farm of one hundred and sixty acres in section twenty-nine. He logged the land the first year and farmed after.

In 1891 J.T. Smith bought eighty acres of land in section twenty-nine and after two years moved to a seventy acre farm in section thirty, where he resided ever since.
The school house was a little frame building, located on the corner of section twenty-nine and had an enrollment of three pupils the first year.

(White Lake) - In 1908 the Chicago and Northwestern and Wisconsin Northern railroad lines were put through to Van Ostrand.
This helped to increase the population of the district, but the people that came did not stay for any length of time. The greater share of the land was owned by the Wallrich Land Company or Menasha Wood and Ware Company.
