Searchmont is a community with a local services board in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The town of Searchmont received its name in honor of T.C. Search, the treasurer of the consolidated Lake Superior Company. Searchmont was once a bustling community built around the forestry industry. The local sawmill was the livelihood of most of the residents. wikipedia

Searchmont is a seasonal town, providing excellent skiing in the winter (it draws people from the United States) and hiking/ biking trails in the summer. There are resorts to accomodate seasonal tourists. (Searchmont) Algoma Commercial Company operated lumber camps and a sawmill from 1899 to 1902.

1962 - Electricity comes to Searchmont
After 2 long years of waiting and anticipating, the electricity was finally turned on February 23 1962. The power was hooked up to 58 out of the 120 homes and 3 businesses, more homes will be hooked up throughout the year.
