Nip'igon, or Nep'igon, a large lake of Ontario, 30 miles N.W. of Lake Superior, with which it is connected by Nipigon River. It is an irregular elliptic in shape, from 50 to ' miles in length, but numerous £ indentations increase its coast-line to 580 miles. There are about 1000 islands within its bounds.
