1760 - June 22 - Battle of Restigouche
Royal Navy Captain John Byron of the frigate HMS Fame evades the blockade set up by Captain François Chénard de la Giraudais on the naval frigate the Machault, enters the Baie des Chaleurs, and starts bombarding the cannon along the shore; other English ships follow; the battle will take place July 8.

1760, July 8 - Royal Navy Captain John Byron of the frigate HMS Fame reaches the Restigouche River and does battle against Captain François Chénard de la Giraudais on the naval frigate the Machault and the armed merchant ship Bienfaisant; at 10 a.m., low on ammunition, Chénard de la Giraudais blows up the Machault; an hour later the captain of the Bienfaisant scuttles his vessel as well; last naval battle in colonial waters of the Seven Years’ War.
