Las Cruces, lás kroo'sés, a post-village of Donna Ana co., New Mexico, on the E. bank of the Rio Grande, nearly opposite Mesilla. It has a Catholic academy, a church, and a newspaper office. Wine is made here. Pop. 1304.

Lascruces, a banking post-village, capital of Donna Ana co., N.Mex., near the Rio Grande and 43 miles NNW. of El Paso, Tex., on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe R. It is the seat of a state agricultural college and has mining- and other industries. Pop. about 1600.

1945 - ONE KILLED, THREE HURT IN CRASH.

Las Cruces, Sept. 10. - One soldier was killed and three persons were hurt in a head-on collision 20 miles west of Las Cruces today.
Pfc. MEYER COHEN was killed instantly.
MRS. COHEN, wife of the soldier, is in a Las Cruces hospital. Doctors have not determined the extent of her injuries.
MR. and MRS. BUD TUCKER of Newport, Ky., were injured slightly.
Private and MRS. COHEN were driving west and MR. and MRS. TUCKER were going east at the time of the crash.
MR. TUCKER was discharged Saturday from the Army and he and his wife were er route to their home.
