On October 17, 1710, Sieur Claude de Ramesay became the owner of the Seigneurie located near the Scibouet River (so called by the Abenakis because of its muddy waters), which flows into the Yamaska River.
He wants to build a sawmill there. However, the Sieur de Ramesay will never reside in the Seigniory.

Around 1798, the Lord of Ramesay-Bourchemin bought the Lordship but only built a dwelling at the mouth of the Scibouet River, where it flows into the Yamaska.

In the summer of 1818, Mr. Hugues Lemoyne de Martigny (cousin of Lemoyne d'Iberville) met the Lord of Ramesay-Bourchemin and bought the Seigneurie.
