1898 - Jail Delivery At Juneau.
Tacoma, Washington, Feb. 5. - Fire destroyed the Court House and jail at Juneau Sunday night. All records were lost. No one was injured. Fourteen prisoners had to be released and made their escape. Some were recaptured.

Juneau, a city of Alaska, on Gastineau Channel. Lat. 68° 17' N. ; Lon. 134° 16' W. It is the metropolis of Alaska and is the miners' -supply point. It has banks, an electric- light plant, newspaper offices, etc., and is connected by steamers with Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, San Francisco, Sitka, Skagway, and Nome. Near it are the famous Treadwell gold-mines of Douglass Island and the Silver Bow mines. Pop. in 1900, 1864.

1936 - BODIES OF 10 ARE FOUND AT JUNEAU. SIX PERSONS STILL ARE ON MISSING LIST AFTER LANDSLIDE.
Juneau, Alaska, Nov. 25. - (AP) - Mud and ruins of Sunday's great landslide surrendered two more bodies to rescue crews tonight, raising the known deaths to ten and leaving six remaining on the missing list.
One other body was recovered earlier in the day.

MRS. GEORGE LEE was found dead among the debris of the demolished Nickinovich Apartments and OSCAR LAITO, Sitka, Alaska, in the wrecked
rooming house operated by MRS. FRED MATSON who is still missing. PETE BATTELO'S body was the first one discovered today in the Nickinovich pile.

Rescue crews composed of business men, laboreres and miners continued digging into the mass of mud, rock and jumbled timbers in the hope of finding more of the missing.
