1827 - Hanover College Founded
Hanover College is a private liberal arts college, located in Hanover, in the U.S. state of Indiana, near the banks of the Ohio River. The college is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Founded in 1827 by the Rev. John Finley Crowe, it is the oldest private college in Indiana.

1832 - Hanover Presbyterian Church
Originally built for the college, the main structure was completed in 1832 with the help of students. The college used the building only on special occasions once Classic Hall was completed in 1857 on the present campus.

Hardly a day went by that January that didn’t bring rain, and lots of it. On the thirteenth of January the river stood at 36.7 feet. Two days later it had risen to 45.7 feet.

1974 - Tornado
On April 3, 1974 a tornado ripped through Hanover's campus, causing $10,000,000 damage to the school's buildings and other infrastructure, as well as leveling most of the trees around campus that had made it so appealing and beautiful.
