1854 - Farmington
Farmington, a thriving post-village of Van Buren county, Iowa, on the Des Moines river, about 30 miles N. W. from Keokuk, with which it is connected by a plank-road. It is the oldest village in the county, and is a shipping point for the produce of the vicinity.

Farmington, a post-village of Van Buren co., Iowa, in Farmington township, on the Des Moines River, at the junction of two railroads, 40 miles by rail E. by S. of Bloomfield, and 20 miles by rail S.E. of Keosauqua. It has 7 churches, a bank, a high school, a newspaper office, and manufactures of woollen goods, cheese, butter, and lumber. Pop. in 1890, 1002.
