1887 - The Lincoln township school board, at a meeting held a few days ago, decided to engage Mr. J. T. Patterson, of Hopkinton, Iowa, a brother-in-law to J. E. Bort, to teach the school heretofore taught by Mr. Hoover.
Mr. Patterson is expected here tomorrow morning. His school will open Sept. 19.

Hop/ kinton, a post-village in South Fork township, Delaware co., Iowa, on the South Fork of the Maquoketa River, and on the Davenport & St. Paul Railroad, 74 miles N.N.W. of Davenport, and about 35 miles W.S.W. of Dubuque. It has the Lenox Collegiate Institute, 3 churches, a bank, and 2 newspaper offices. Pop, in 1890, 668.
