Chazy, taken from Champlain, 20th March, 1804; distant N. from Albany 170, from Plattsburg, N. W. 12, miles; surface level on the E., but hilly on the W.; soil generally of good quality and some of it excellent, being underlaid with lime stone, for 5 or 6 miles from the lake; drained by the Chazy and Little Chazy rivers. Chazy, West Chazy, and Chazy Landing, are villages; the two first have post offices. Chazy, village, 15 miles N. of Plattsburg, on the State road from Albany to Canada, contains 1 Methodist and 1 Congregationalist, churches, a high school, 2 grist mills, 2 saw mills, a trip hammer, tannery, carding and cloth dressing mill, and some 50 dwellings, in a well improved country. Chazy Landing, lies on the lake, 1 mile S. of the Little Chazy and 3 from the village, and has a dock and store house, a dry good and grocery store, and 15 or 20 dwellings. 1862 - Chazy
CHAZY- prononnced Sha-zee- was taken from Champlain, March 20, 1804. Altona was taken off in 1857. It lies upon Lake Champlain north of the center of the county. Its surface is rolling, having a gentle inclination towards the lake. The principal stream is the Little Chazy, flowing north-easterly through near the center of the town. Corbeau Creek drains the north-west part. The soil is clayey and productive in the east, and sandy and poor in the west.
Chazy village, upon Little, Chazy River, contains two churches, a saw and grist mill, large quantities of excellent lime are burned and fitted for market at this place.- West Chazy, in the south part of the town, on the Little Chazy River, is a Station on the Plattsburgh & Montreal R. R.
Sciota is a station on the P. & M. R. R., in the north-west corner. Chazy Landing is a hamlet on the lake shore. Ingraham is a Post Office in the south-east corner of the town. The first settler was John La Trombois, who came into town in 1763.... Read MORE...

Chazy, shazee', a post-village of Chazy township, Cliton co, N.Y., on the Little Chazy River, 14 miles N. of Plattsburg. It has 3 churches and an academy. The township is bounded on the E. by Lake Champlain, and intersected by a railroad which connects Plattsburg with Rouse's Point. It has manufactures of cheese, lime, lumber, and starch, and contains villages named Sciota and West Chazy. Total pop. 3074.
