Castile is a Town in Wyoming County, New York, USA. The Town is named after Castile in Spain.

The first settlement in the Town of Castile was a sawmill built by Robert and Daniel Whaley of Caledonia, NY. Robert and his wife Janet built a log house. The house was soon turned into a tavern and rest stop for travelers and early settlers.

Ziba Hurd and Jonathan Gilbert, from Vermont, were the first settlers of the Village later known as Castile. Ziba Hurd got a title to the land from the Holland Land Co. The title included 400 acres of dense forest and was dated 1816.

Castile, a post-township of Wyoming county, New York, on the Genesee river, a few miles S. E. from Warsaw. Population, 2446.

Castile, a post-village of the above township, on the Buffalo and New York City railroad, 58 miles E. S. E. from Buffalo. It contains 4 stores, 1 carriage manufactory, and 3 churches.

Castile, a post-village of Wyoming co., N.Y., in Castile township, and on the Erie Railroad, 57 miles E.S.E. of Buffalo, and 9 miles S.S.E. of Warsaw. It has a bank, a union school, 4 churches, a newspaper office, and a manufactory of farming-implements. Pop. 712. The township is bounded on the E. by the Genesee River, which here flows between steep banks about 300 feet high. Pop. 2277.
