1800s Cooking Tips and Recipes
Johnny Cake - One cup sweet milk, one cup wheat flour, one and one-half cups corn meal, one tablespoonful sugar, one egg, butter half the size of an egg, one teaspoonful cream tartar, one-half a teaspoonful soda, a little salt. Bake in a tin about four inches by eight inches.
