Fanny LONGFELLOW was the child of Henry Wadsworth LONGFELLOW and Fanny Elizabeth APPLETON and the grandchild of: (paternal) Stephen LONGFELLOW and Zilpha "Drew" WADSWORTHFanny LONGFELLOW died 11 September 1848 in Massachusetts, USA.
She was the first American-born child whose mother received anesthesia during childbirth. Her mother was anesthetized with ether administrated by Dr. Nathan Cooley Keep. When baby Fanny died the next year, her father published a poem in her honor titled "Resignation".
