Services for Jess Willard Holmes, 63, 205 S. 11th St., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Denton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Will Steinsick of Hillcrest United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Carlsbad Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes was born June 17, 1923, in Tahoka, Texas. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served in the Pacific from 1942 until 1946. He worked at Potash Company of America as a mine developing engineer. He retired in 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Holmes, Carlsbad; one son, Jim Holmes, Berkeley Spring, W.Va.; a daughter, Marilyn Haddrill, Carlsbad; his father, Nolie Holmes, Carlsbad; four sisters, Pearl Sherrill, Othell Carlton and Addlene Hammond, all of Carlsbad, and Betty Teague, Eunice, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Box 41, Carlsbad, 88220.
Jessie is buried at: Carlsbad Cemetery Carlsbad Eddy County New Mexico, USA Plot: Division A
