William S. Tilden, History of the Town of Medfield Massachusetts - 1650-1886 (Boston; Geo. H. Ellis, Publisher, 141 Franklin Street. 1887 Third Reprinting - 1991), 373. '#4. John was born the year his father died. When he grew up, he came into possession of the homestead, and married in 1696 Elizabeth Harding (12). He was a prominent man in town affairs; was chief military officer of the town, served as treasurer, town clerk for six years, selectman ten years, and representative to the General Court in 1741 and 1743. He died in 1751, his wife in 1758.'
