Mary  SMYTHE (SMITH)

ROBERT MOULTON's name is found on a number of rolls at the Public Record Office, including subsidy rolls for Scratby dated 1595, 1597, 1611, 1625, and 1627. His will was dated Oct. 8, 1633, and was proved at Norwich, Norfolk, England, on Nov. 22, 1633.

MARY's will was dated Mar. 29, 1636 and proved at Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, on Jun. 10, 1636.

It has already been proved that Robert Moulton of Scratby married Mary Smyth at Hemsby in 1595 (William Haslet Jones, 324; Joy Wade Moulton, 240). Mary Smyth was the daughter of Henry Smyth of Hemsby whose will is dated 18 January 1624-5. His burial on 11 August 1625 is recorded in Hemsby parish records, his inventory was taken on 12 August 1625 and his will proved 17 November 1625. Brydegett, wife of Henry Smythe, was buried at Hemsby 4 January 1612-3 and by 1625 he had married Mirable. No records have been found of Henry Smythe's two marriages or of the batptism of his children. In his will Henry Smyth did not mention his daughter Mary, the wife of Robert Moulton, but he made bequests to both Robert Moulton and Henry, the son of immigrant John Moulton, a baby only a few months old at that time.
