Barbe LOUVOIS dite ST-AMOUR  was born 6 January 1714 in Verchères, Québec, Canada (Saint-François-Xavier-de-Vercheres).  Barbe died 11 June 1743 in Contrecœur, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Trinité-de-Contrecoeur).  Barbe was the child of Jacques LOUVOIS dit ST-AMOUR ET LALIME and Marie-Barbe CESAR dite LAGARDELETTE.

René  married  (2) Marie-Marguerite MENARD 18 January 1745 in Verchères, Canada, New France .  Marie-Marguerite MENARD  was born abt. 1711 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Marie-Marguerite died 24 July 1761 in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly, Québec, Canada.  Marie-Marguerite was the child of François-Marie MENARD and Marie-Jeanne CHARPENTIER.

René  married  (3) Marie-Anne TÉTREAU (TÉTREAULT) 22 October 1764 in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Province of Québec, Canada .  Marie-Anne TÉTREAU (TÉTREAULT)  was born abt. 1712 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Marie-Anne died 21 February 1792 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Marie-Anne was the child of Jacques TÉTREAU (TÉTREAULT) and Marguerite BRUNET.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
