1962 - The Cuban Missile Crisis was a tense 13-day standoff in October 1962 between the United States and the Soviet Union over the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from the U.S. coast. The crisis is considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war. It began when American spy planes discovered the missiles, leading to a U.S. naval blockade of Cuba and intense negotiations. WARWICK - Brodeur, Gail L., 62, of Ormond Beach, FL, formerly of Warwick, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Clive Charest and loving mother of Erik Crepeau. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Lucien Brodeur.
Gail worked at Kent Hospital for 35 years as manager of the Central Sterilization Dept., before retiring. She is survived by one sister, Karen Baillargeon and three brothers, Kurt, Keith and Glenn Brodeur. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed reading, gardening and most importantly, music.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10 am in the Four Corners Community Chapel, 200 Angell Rd., Cumberland, RI 02864.
