"René Landry, later called l'âiné, a farmer from La Chaussée, near Blois, in the Orleanais region of the Loire valley in France, born in c1618, came to Acadia in c1640, one the early French settlers in Acadia. He married Pérrine Bourg, widow of colonist Simon Pelletret, in c1645. René's sister Antoinette had married Antoine Bourg, progenitor of that family, in c1642, so even before he started a family of his own, René was well-connected to an important family in the colony. He and Pérrine had five children, including two sons, both born at Port-Royal, who created families of their own. Their three daughters married into the Comeau, Granger, Richard dit Beaupré, and Dupuis families. "
