1894 - TERRIFIC WIND STORM. Roundhouse Wrecked, Cars Turned Over and Damaged to Other Property.

News
Beaumont Jefferson Co., Tex., Feb. 8. - A severe storm visited this place about 5 o'clock this morning. The wind attained terrific velocity, but of short duration. The Gulf, Beaumont and Kansas City roundhouse was wrecked. Damage between $900 and $1,000. Two cottages in course of erection in the Calder addition were demolished, besides numerous shanties, trees and fences were blown down. Two box cars in the Southern Pacific yards were turned over in the ditch and three flats near by were blown from the rails. The speed of the wind is not known, but it is thought most of the damage was done within the space of about two or three minutes.
