Service for Nolie Everett Holmes, 93, 111 S. Eighth St., is to be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Denton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Drake of 9th and Missouri Church of God officiating. Burial is to be held in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Holmes died Oct. 24 at Lakeview Christian Home's Northgate Unit.
Pallbearers are to be Gilbert Hammond, Donald Teague, David Teague, Jimmy Holmes, Richard Mitchell and Dennis Carlton.
He was born on March 25, 1896, in Antelope, Jack County, Texas. He attended school in Archer City, Texas. During World War I he served in the U.S. Army. He married the late Ester May Nelson on Sept. 22, 1922, in Crosbyton, Texas. He came to Carlsbad in 1937 from Tulia, Texas, and worked as an operator for PCA until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the Baptist Church, VFW in Tulia and the American Legion.
Survivors include four daughters, Othell Carlton, Pearl Sherill and Mary Hammond, all of Carlsbad, and Betty Teague of Eunice; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
