Raymond W. Miller, age 74, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008, in Bellingham, WA. Ray was born on April 30, 1934, in Ferndale, Washington, to Ray and Ruby (Youngdyke) Miller. Ray graduated from Meridian High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He served in the Vietnam War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Flight Engineer and Instructor, retiring in 1973 as a Master Sergeant. Ray married his high school sweetheart, Sandra McCann, in Sacramento, CA. Ray worked in the maintenance department at St. Joseph Hospital for 5 years. He traveled to the Virgin Islands for American Airlines as maintenance chief then spent time as maintenance director in Fairbanks, AK; Burbank, CA; Tucson, AZ; then finally in Washington State for various airlines. His hobbies included classic cars, love of music, air shows, spending time outdoors, and his number one love - spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dallas and Allan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra; daughters, Sue (Tom) Holland, and Nancy (Bill) Garr; grandchildren, Raymond and Christy Holland, Rob and Ryan Garr, and Shannon (Anthony) Gardiner; sisters, Linda (Allen) Pedersen, and Debbie (Kelly) Rorvig; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be begin at 11:30 AM, Monday, January 5, 2009, at Moles Family Funeral Home in Ferndale, 2039 Main St. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM.
