The history of the colonization of Île Perrot, located 30 kilometers west of downtown Montreal, dates back to the mid-17th century. The island was ceded in October 1672 to François Marie Perrot, Governor of Montreal. The assignment was signed by Intendant Jean Talon, who was the uncle of Mr. Perrot's wife, Madame Madeleine Laguide Meynier.

Connected by bridge to Île de Montréal since 1925, L'Île-Perrot is a residential suburb of MONTRÉAL, which is about 40 km to the east.
