About La Présentation

La Présentation, Québec, Canada - La Présentation, Québec, Canada - Église de La Présentation, built in 1820 wikipedia
The parish municipality of La Presentation was incorporated in 1855. It covers an area of almost 105 square kilometers and is part of the regional county municipality of Maskoutains in the administrative region of Monteregie.

It was in 1804 that the priest Cherrier of Saint-Denis-sur-le-Richelieu recommended the erection of a new ecclesiastical territorial unit. A presbytery-chapel is built in Salvaille, the current parish of La Presentation. But it has already been mentioned that the civil erection of the parish took place in 1855.

Today, there are 700 residential houses and other buildings at La Presentation.

Among the most interesting attractions of the parish, there is the Church of the Presentation of Saint-Hyacinthe, one of the oldest in the region, built between 1817 and 1820, according to the plans of the priest Cherrier and under the direction of Pierre Auger, famous master mason of Terrebonne. The church's blessing took place on May 4, 1820.
