At the beginning of the 19th century, the development of the seigneury of Nicolet began.
This development requires the establishment of a mill which is put into operation in 1808, in the upper part of the seigneury of Nicolet, on the site where the village of Sainte-Monique will be formed, and subsequently some families settle there.

The parish of Sainte-Monique, erected in 1842 by detachment from the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Nicolet, was part, at the time of its foundation, of the diocese of Quebec, but it became one of the parishes of the diocese of Trois-Rivières, in 1852 and later, of the diocese of Nicolet, when founded in 1885.

In 1852, the post office was inaugurated there under the name of Sainte-Monique and in 1866, the parish of Sainte-Perpétue was canonically constituted by detachment from those of Sainte-Monique and Saint-Frédéric.
