1800s Cooking Tips and Recipes

Rice Muffins Boil the rice soft and dry. Take one-half cup of rice, stir in three spoonfuls sugar, piece of butter size of an egg, and a little salt. One pint sweet milk, one cup yeast, two quarts flour. Let it rise all night. If sour in the morning add a little soda dissolved in milk, and bake in muffin-rings.
