Québec Ancêtre - Did you know?

Pâté chinois is a variation of an english dish called Sheperds's Pie and a french dish called Hachis parmentier. Back in the days, the dish was made from pork loin = échine de porc, which as the cheapest part of the animal, and was called «Pâté d'échine». Pâté d'échine = Pâté de Chine = pâté chinois.
