Biography
Samuel Gill was captured, at the age of 9 years old, during a raid in Salisbury, MA and was raised by the family of the Chief of the Abenaki in Odanak.
His father Sargent Samuel Gill made a few trips to Odanak along the St Francis River, to have Samuel return with him to Salisbury, but Samuel was happy and loved his new family, because they treated him well,and did not want to return. He later at the age of 19 married Rosalie James another captive and daughter of another Chief and raised a family of 7 known children.
