Boulder, a city, the capital of Boulder co., Col., is on Boulder Creek at the junction of several branches of the Union Pacific Railway system, 30 miles by rail N.W. of Denver and 41 miles S. of Fort Collins. It is near the east base of the Rocky Mountain range, and about 22 miles S.E. of Long's Peak. Rich mines of gold and of lignite have been opened near it. It has 7 churches, 3 banks, flour-mill, foundry, creamery, brewery, planing-mill, &c., and is the seat of the state university. A daily and 3 weekly news papers are published here.
